The Addershag is a minor character in The Heritage of Shannara and The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara trilogies. She was a powerful seer who was sought out by Wren Ohmsford during her quest to find and return the Elves to the Four Lands.
Biography[]
When Wren and the Rover Garth sought out the Addershag in Grimpen Ward in order to get information on the Elves' whereabouts, they found that she was a blind, old woman being kept in shackles. Wren assumed that the woman was a prisoner since she was shackled, but the Addershag revealed that she was far from helpless: she actually had the use of powerful magic and was only allowing her captors to detain her for the time being because it amused her to do so. Despite appearing frail and old, she was quite clearly dangerous.
The Addershag would go on to live for over a century longer after her meeting with Wren. During that time, she maintained a relationship of mutual respect with Walker Boh, who was a Druid and Wren's cousin. In her final years, she took on the seer Ryer Ord Star as a student, but eventually dismissed her for what she perceived to be a lack of character in the younger woman.
